Arnold M. Baskies, M.D., FACS
Dr. Baskies is a Virtua surgeon with decades of experience in all facets of general surgery, and has been board certified in this field and re-certified for over 30 years. He specializes in surgical oncology, including the treatment of breast disease, thyroid cancer, and skin cancers (melanoma). In addition, he specializes in endocrine surgery including minimally invasive radioguided parathyroid surgery and thyroid surgery.
Dr. Baskies majored in biology at Boston University, graduating with highest honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. After obtaining his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine, he completed his surgical training at Boston University Medical Center. He also did a fellowship in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute, a branch of the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Baskies is certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Breasts Surgeons, and the American Society of Clinical Endocrinology. He maintains an active role in both regional and national cancer treatment programs, serving as president of the American Cancer Society of NY & NJ as well as chairman of the Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan for NJ.
